This drawing is Fiona Tan’s blueprint for the fictional architecture she designed to house the utopian archive of Paul Otlet (1868-1944). Utopian architecture plans are often circular and Tan instinctively drew a round floorplan when she imagined Otlet’s ideal repository of all knowledge. In her HD installation Archive (2018) Tan digitally constructed the entire interior of the structure, 120 metres in diameter, in true-to-scale detail.
